My concept is simple: A collaborative service providing affordable, great drum tracks for your project using high quality instruments and recording technology – delivered in your inbox. As most musicians know, there is simply no replacement for a real live musician on your track. With today’s technology, it is possible to collaborate with musicians from all over the world on your recordings. My goal is to provide the best feel for your tracks – in any style of music. And yes…I can read music too.
1. Upload only .WAV or .AIFF files, please do not send mp3′s as mp3′s can be rhythmically inaccurate.
2. Send a stereo bounce of your track and make sure the bounce starts at the exact beginning of your session (even if there is no music there). Do not send you entire DAW session! If you only have one part in your session you want drums on and it happens to be in the middle of your session somewhere that’s ok – you can start your bounce in the middle, just make sure you keep track of exactly where your bounce started from (being in grid mode will help you with this) because that is the drop point where you will have to place the drum tracks.
3. Please include the beats per minute (BPM) and sample rate (44.1k, 48k, etc) and the bit rate (16 or 24) in the file name your audio file (mysongname-130BPM-48k-24bit.WAV)
Do you have midi drum tracks in place ?
If you have midi drum tracks on your song that you want me to emulate, please send two bounces: one with the midi drums and one without.
1. Please send me a Dropbox download link through email: petejames.johnson(at)yahoo.com
Dropbox is a free service, if you do not have it please visit dropbox.com and download.
Instructions on sending a Dropbox download link:
Step 1: Open your dropbox folder, drag your bounced audio file into the Public folder.
Step 2: Right-click/control-click the song file, then choose Dropbox > Copy Public Link. This copies the Internet link to your file so that you can paste it somewhere else. Paste the link in an email to me: petejames.johnson(at)yahoo.com. That’s it! Note: You can only link to actual files within your Public Folder, not to folders.
In your email, please talk about the piece of music, the feeling or vibe you’re going for, the style of the song, and any special notes etc. Feel free to elaborate as much as you want when describing the track. I understand that some of us work on deadlines, if you need tracks ASAP, please indicate so in the email and I will do my best to accommodate.
Feel free to include an attachment of sheet music in your email as well (in .PDF format please). This is optional and not necessary. However, sheet music can certainly speed up the recording process. Lead sheets/chord charts are fine. Also, bass parts or lead trumpet parts can also be good substitutes.
I will promptly reply to your email with an estimate of time and cost for the project. I will record takes and send stereo bounces of the track with drums. If you approve the tracks I will send the final tracks as stand-alone audio files that can be imported into any DAW. I can send you raw drum tracks, mixed tracks, or BOTH raw and mixed if you would like.
A typical track listing includes: Inside kick, outside kick, top snare, bottom snare, all toms, hi hat, overhead left, overhead right, room, crush bus (API 2500).
I accept payment through Paypal. I won’t ask for payment until right before sending the final tracks. My goal is for you to be 100% happy with the tracks.
I can do one song or a whole album, it’s up to you. Feel free to contact me via the form below if you have any questions!
